Being an adoptive parent is one of the most challenging and rewarding things you can do. Children adopted through the care system have often had the worst start to life imaginable, and to give them the safe, loving environment they deserve takes off-the-scale levels of patience and love.
But Adoption UK found that parents were so devoted to the needs of their adopted children, that they weren’t taking any time at all for themselves. I talked to one of the Adoption UK Trainers about this and, when he offered the analogy of the aeroplane safety demonstration, this article immediately started to form in my head.
